A Grandmother’s Testimony
I can testify as a grandma whose grandson came to the Hope For Teen Network of Ministries.
First I must give a disclaimer. I’m NOT one of those grandmas who let the grandchildren get away with stuff. I am not a big gift giver at least not the monetary kind. I am a supporter of parents who discipline, even if it means no TV, computer or what not if a kid is under restriction in his home he will not find relief from that at my home. That said, I understood, what my grandchild’s parents were facing; a rebellious child who spent days in in-school suspension and nights screaming at the family. My heart ached for the entire family because there was no peace under their roof. The easy path would have been to let the kid have his way and make big mistakes, but instead they chose Hope For Teens and a path that was anything but easy. Our gracious Father in Heaven gave me great peace in my heart even though the program was on the other side of the country and I would not be able to see him. His parents were taking a great leap of faith, but their faith allowed this. My grandson wasn’t happy about this decision, but he didn’t fight them the day they showed up at school with his bags packed and tickets to Help For Troubled Teens for the three of them. I was put on a list of people who could communicate with him and I sent postcards with words of encouragement and Scripture if the Lord led me to share something. I avoided writing of things like family gatherings; it was mostly boring stuff going on here at the farm, but the Lord often led me to show him His love through the beauty of His creation.
Today, my grandson is graduating from Elijah Generation School of Ministry and will be embarking on the rest of his life. I am grateful for the teaching at Spirit Life Church, it has helped my grandson grow and me too! I have watched a faithful family go from being torn by anger and hurt to a family that is lifting up the Lord. All I can say is that kids don’t get sent to this program to be fixed, the family members all come together, work, pray, cry and learn how to live, love and edify our Lord. The support is there for anyone who plugs in. I’m a plugged in and grateful grandma! Praise the Lord for this ministry!
